Over the past few weeks, Jane and I have been dealing with persistent coughs, flu-like symptoms, congestion, and runny noses.
That’s why we’ve been quiet on social media lately — we’ve been feeling a bit under the weather!
I often share remedies like the classic "hot toddy" or the tried-and-true "mustard plaster"—simple solutions that worked wonders during childhood. As we grow older and life gets busier, it's easy to forget these timeless, effective traditions.
In today’s fast-paced world, many of us turn to over-the-counter medications and prescriptions for quick relief and comfort.
There’s no doubt that modern remedies can be highly effective—they’re designed to work. Yet, when you’re feeling under the weather, there’s something uniquely comforting about turning to the trusted remedies of past generations. These time-honored solutions, passed down from parents and grandparents, always seemed to deliver just what you needed.
Introducing the Cowboy Cough Syrup – a powerful and reliable remedy inspired by Nicole Apelian’s acclaimed Lost Book of Herbal Remedies!! After just a week of using this homemade formula, I can confidently say two things: first, it tastes amazing, and second, it soothes, warms you from the inside, and helps clear your cough, making it easier to breathe and recover faster.
It's like giving my Mom's classic hot toddy a bold twist. Both remedies are time-tested classics, known for their ability to help sweat out illnesses and relieve stubborn congestion.
Check out the recipe and a detailed breakdown of each ingredient, including their unique benefits for your body, in the link below.
I modified the recipe for myself. I used Brandy instead of Whiskey. Only because that is the taste I prefer. If you like the bolder taste of the Whiskey, go for it. I also used candy canes for the peppermint.
Do me a favor—only use this recipe when you're staying home and don't need to head out for work. Depending on how your body reacts, it might make you feel a bit too tired. (That’s a good thing, but it’s best to avoid using it if you absolutely have to leave the house)!
I made this for my niece, and she gave it a thumbs up! However, she mentioned she wasn’t feeling well and after a visit to a walk-in clinic, it turns out she has bronchitis on top of everything else!
This isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, so be sure to listen to your body and consider if other factors might be contributing to your discomfort.
I’m currently using this remedy, and I have to say it’s been helping. I’m sleeping better, my congestion is clearing up, and the cough is doing its job to help expel what’s lingering in my system. Aside from the occasional blocked nose, I’ve been feeling noticeably better since starting Cowboy Cough Syrup!
